The current budget statement reflects the gift of $1000 from the congregation of St Anthony’s as they lay down their parish.
The allocations agreed at the July meeting for business are included.
The 2007 close-out statement is included

Ministry & Counsel – Bob Powell reporting for Roger Schroeder
Memorial meeting for Chris Swisshelm. The family has expressed a wish to have a memorial meeting. Richard Coleman has drafted a memorial minute approved by the family, which was referred to Ministry and Counsel. There will be a special meeting of Ministry and Counsel at the rise of meeting on Sep 9 to consider and approve the minute. The memorial meeting will take place at the Quaker Heritage Meetinghouse at 3:00 pm on Sep 16. The following friends have volunteered for various duties:
Richard Coleman will extend invitations to Chris’s friends in the tractor-pulling and biking communities. Richard will also provide flowers
Patricia Thomas will arrange for the room
Dale Hayes will open and close the meeting
Lenna Mae Gara will provide punch for the after-meeting refreshments. Other friends are asked to bring cookies.

Old BusinessThe laying down of St Anthony’s. Canby Jones will deliver a minute to Herman Fisher at St Anthony’s last service, expressing our appreciation for their gift to us and for their friendly cooperation over many years of sharing the same facilities.
Your Father’s Kitchen. Campus Friends will serve lunch at Your Father’s Kitchen on Sep 1. Friends should arrive at 11:00 am. Various friends volunteered to bring various contributions.
Fall Retreat. The retreat will be held at Quaker Knoll Oct 24 28. The meeting agreed on the theme “Is it necessary for science and religion to conflict.” Bob Powell agreed to form a committee with Ron Rembert and Stephen Potthoff.
Nominating Committee. Terry Miller and Ruth Stuckey have agreed to serve as the nominating committee of 2008. They will report a slate to meeting for business in September.
New BusinessOhio Valley Yearly Meeting sessions report. Dale Hayes reported that the revised Faith and Practice was adopted. The covenanting process will continue. There was much discussion of the “Earth Charter.” See the following report from Lenna Mae Gara on peace and social concerns.
Peace and Social Concerns. Lenna Mae Gara reports that she has received a copy of the Earth Charter from Ron Haldeman of the OVYM Peace and Social Concerns Committee with the request that it be referred to the meeting for review and seasoning. Lenna Mae will acquire more copies of the charter for distribution to friends with the object of considering it at the October fellowship breakfast.
Lenna Mae has also received a proposed statement on corporal punishment, which is attached to these minutes. We will consider this statement at the September meeting for business.
Lenna Mae commends to friends a recent letter in the New York Times on the subject of nuclear weapons. The letter was headlined “Still in the shadow of nuclear weapons.” The authors included Henry Kissinger, Sam Nunn and a number of other prominent former policy makers.
The meeting concluded with a period of silent worship.
