Friends gathered with a time of centering and a query from WYM Queries.

Minutes of the September meeting

were approved with one small change.

Treasurer’s Report – Dale Hayes – attached to these minutes

Our finances continue to be on track

The report was approved.

Ministry & Counsel – Dale Hayes

The committee is considering a visit to Wes Stratton, who has expressed the desire to remain connected with Campus Friends

Health of members was reviewed. Richard Coleman has talked to Roger about catastrophic health insurance and it appears to be feasible

Paulette Meier of Community Friends will attend the November Fellowship Breakfast and will present a program of singing ministry

The report was approved.

Old Business

The Fall Retreat: The program for the retreat was announced

OVYM Corporal Punishment Minute: Lenna Mae Gara reported on the results of our query back to the author

• The minute sent to us is a preliminary draft, meant to introduce some ideas and to start a discussion

• The process is intended to result in a minute to be brought to Yearly Meeting

• The audience ultimately will be Yearly Meeting

Lenna Mae will follow up with more detailed queries and bring them to the November meeting for business. Friends suggested that we might want to use the January and/or February fellowship breakfast meetings to gather input

Revised Chapter of Membership: We have received a draft revision of the membership chapter of Ohio Valley Yearly Meeting Faith and Practice for review and comment. The matter was referred to Ministry and Counsel

Literature Supplies: Our inventory is running low. Patricia Thomas and Dale Hayes will review the situation and decide what and how much to order

New Business

Letter of Appreciation: In view of the general satisfaction with the meetinghouse dedication to Canby Jones, it was suggested that a letter of appreciation to Dan Dibiasio, Wilmington College President, is in order. Richard Coleman volunteered to draft such a letter

Earth Charter: Lenna Mae Gara distributed copies and has more if any Friend needs one

Workshop on Extended Silent Meeting for Worship: Cathy Barney, Cincinnati Friends Meeting, will present a workshop on “Sinking into the Spirit” on April 12, 2008 from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Meetinghouse

The meeting concluded with a period of silent worship.
