Minutes of Meeting for Business, 19 Mar 08
Friends gathered with a time of centering and a query from WYM Queries.

Minutes of the February meeting

were approved.

Treasurer’s Report Patricia Thomas reporting for Dale Hayes

In Dale’s absence, no actions were taken, though it was recognized that we must take action in April on yearly meeting assessments.

The report was approved.

Ministry & Counsel Bob Powell reporting for Roger Schroeder

Interest has arisen in our meeting and Wilmington Friends Church about fostering better relations. A program of “Friendly Eights” dinners has been proposed. Ministry and Counsel are in favor of moving ahead with this and seeking other avenues, such as joint service projects, to further this aim.

Health of members was reviewed

The report was approved.

Old Business

Corporal Punishment Minute

As requested by meeting for business, Lenna Mae Gara presented a draft minute on corporal punishment. The draft incorporates inputs from the meeting gathered at the February fellowship breakfast and circulated with last month’s minutes. The meeting approved the draft with no changes. Lenna Mae will send the minute to both yearly meetings. Richard Coleman will coordinate with Terry Miller on sending a copy to Wilmington College and to the Peace Resource Center. The meeting thanked Lenna Mae for the care which she brought to this matter.

New Business

Friendly Eights with Wilmington Friends Church
The meeting approved the program of joining with Wilmington Friends in a series of Friendly Eight dinners. Anyone interested in participating, please call Patricia Thomas for more information. The meeting also charged Ministry and Counsel to explore other avenues for fostering better relations with the downtown meeting.

Art Brooks’s Family Reunion
The Art Brooks family wishes to worship in the Jones Meetinghouse at the time of their family reunion on June 27. This is the weekend of Wilmington Yearly Meeting, which will be worshiping with Cuba Friends in their new meetinghouse. It was suggested that Campus Friends may choose to worship with WYM in Cuba or with the Brooks family in the Jones Meetinghouse. The suggestion was approved.

The meeting concluded with a period of silent worship.

Campus Friends Meeting is a meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, often called Quakers. Campus Friends Meeting meets every Sunday at 10:30 am in the Quaker Heritage Meetinghouse on the campus of Wilmington College. Campus Friends Meetings for worship follow the unprogrammed tradition. We have no pastor and no order of service. Friends gather in worhshipful silence waiting upon the leadings of the Spirit. Campus Friends Meeting welcomes all who wish to worship with us.
