Minutes of the November meeting were
approved with the correction of an error in the last item. Campus Friends will not provide an evening meal at yearly meeting; instead, we will host lunch on Saturday, 26 July.
Treasurer’s Report – Dale Hayes – attached to these minutes
The Treasurer expressed concern that giving has been “anemic” during the first quarter of the fiscal year. Contributions are not keeping pace with spending, let alone compiling the cushion we need for our end-of-year discretionary charitable donations.
The Treasurer, in accordance with new IRS regulations, will be sending everyone a statement of giving during the calendar year 2007. Unfortunately, procedures were not in place to track checks written for community support on First Day each month. Friends will need to factor that into the report for tax purposes.
The report was
approved.
Ministry & Counsel – Patricia Thomas reporting for Roger Schroeder
Fall RetreatThe committee reviewed the Fall Retreat and concluded that it was a valuable addition to meeting life. Appreciation was expressed to all who helped and to all who took part

The first Fifth Sunday of 2008 occurs on 30 March. Roger Schroeder will speak, Dale Hayes will provide refreshments and Patricia Thomas will make coffee. The next Fifth Sunday is 29 June. Patricia Thomas will speak. We are still looking for speakers for 31 August and 30 November
Call for State of Society Report and Memorial MinutesChris Swisshelm’s memorial minute has been submitted. The State of Society Report queries and associated Bible verses have been received. The theme this year is “Do you wish to be made whole?” (John 5:2-9). As we have done in past years, we will consider the queries at the February Fellowship Breakfast and gather input from the meeting. Ministry and Counsel will then draft a minute and bring it to meeting for business. The report is due 31 March.
Corporal punishment threshing meetingDale and Terry cannot host this meeting on 29 Jan as previously planned owing to teaching commitments. The meeting will take place instead on 23 Jan. See the schedule for details.
Oversight of Dale Hayes’s ministryDale will make his yearly report at the January meeting.
The report was
approved.
Old Business-There was no old business.
New BusinessWYM internship programA committee has been from in Wilmington Yearly Meeting to institute an internship program aimed at leadership development in WYM. The committee is clerked by Lois Hackney. Three to six interns would be chosen and would primarily be engaged in conducting Bible Schools in monthly meetings over the summer. The interns would receive a stipend in return for twenty hours of work per week. Monthly meetings are requested to work the interns into their programs and in some cases to provide hosting.
The program was discussed by the meeting. We have no children in the meeting and do not conduct a Bible School. However, merit was found in the aims of the program and the meeting
approved contributing $50 to support the work of the interns.
The meeting concluded with a period of silent worship.
